What you need:
  • eggshells
  • canvas (or cardboard/construction paper)
  • paint
  • glue
  • Modpodge (or any acrylic sealer)
Step 1: Paint

Start by painting your eggshells using diluted paint and water. If following the image example, you can paint them in green, blue and brown. Allow them to dry completely.

Step 2: Prepare

Next, your students will prepare the base for their eggshell mosaic if painting their canvas. This can be painted anyway they would like, but our recommendation is sticking to neutral colours so the mosaic can really pop.

Step 3: Assemble

After the eggshells have fully dried, crush them into small pieces. Then begin assembling the image onto your base material (canvas, cardboard or construction paper).  Once the final design is good to go, use glue to secure the eggshell mosaic into place. This will take some time so set aside a full period for this process.

Step 4: Protect

After the glue has fully dried, it’s best to protect the mosaic with an acrylic sealer. This can be a painted sealer or in spray format. This will be the finishing touch that seals the project together for long-lasting results!
